Coming off of his seventh round KO of Luke Campbill, Ryan Garcia seemed headed towards a 135 lbs showdown with Gervonta “Tank” Davis, who has been calling for this fight for over a year now. Fast forward to January 24 and an Instagram post made by Ryan Garcia, there is now some doubt for the time being.
He posted a picture titled “A Dream to Reality”, showing him dueling with Manny Pacquiao. Originally thought to be a fantasy posting, this fight is looking to be finalized this week.
Henry Garcia, who is Ryan’s Father and trainer, told MyBettingSites.co.uk,
“Everybody has agreed, all there is left are the details. But both parties have already agreed; promoters have agreed, sanctioning bodies have agreed, so we’re very close to sealing the deal. We’re going to know this week if everything goes through, we’re negotiating today, they are already in discussion”.
Preliminary reports are saying this fight will be a 10-round exhibition, as opposed to a standard sanction title fight. The fight also looks as if it will occur at a catch weight of 143 pounds.
I have my own personal opinion on the fight being labeled an exhibition, but we will analyze that once the fight is official and we do our predictions.
